Slide 21 - "ba", o zen do Scrum

Quero falar sobre o ba porque o ba é o zen do Scrum e também o zen da manufatura japonesa. O ba é o que é criado. E parte disto é como o sentimento na sala. Quando você coloca pessoas juntas e eles têm uma interação dinâmica que cria a síntese de algo novo. É um ambiente que cria idéias emergentes. Ele fornece um contexto compartilhado no qual os indivíduos podem interagir uns com os outros. Assim, a gestão japonesa, particularmente no Prius e também no grupo Lexus, estão sempre pensando em como criar o ba. Como conseguir as pessoas certas nas reuniões certas, no lugar certo, de forma que a mágica aconteça. Assim, se a mágica acontecer, os membros da equipe criam novos pontos de vista e resolvem suas próprias contradições através do diálogo. Desta forma, o ba é este contexto compartilhado: pessoas, tempo, lugar, conteúdo – onde o conhecimento, como um fluxo de significado, emerge. No caso de software, quando este conhecimento emergente é codificado em um programa que funcione, ele se auto-organiza em um produto. Algo que é tangível, algo que você pode sentir, que pode ser demonstrado, que pode ser documentado, algo que a empresa pode ir para o mercado e vender.

I wanna talk about "ba" because "ba" is the zen of Scrum and it's also the zen of Japanese manufacturing. What "ba" is, it's what is created. And some of it is like a feeling in the room. When you get people together and they have a dynamic interaction that creates a synthesis of something new. Ok? It's an environment that creates emerging ideas. It provides a shared context in which individuals can interact with one another. So, the Japanese management, particularly in Prius and also in the Lexus group, they are always thinking on how to create "ba". How do we get the right people in the right meetings, in the right place, so the magic happens. Ok? So, if the magic happens, the team members create new points of view and resolve their contradictions through dialog. So, "ba" is this shared context: people, time, place, content -- where knowledge, as a stream of meaning, emerges. And, in software, when that emergent knowledge is codified into working software, it self organizes into a product. Something that is tangible, something that you can feel, something that you can demonstrate, something that you can document, something that the company can go out and sell.
